A nice cup of tea helps to calm your senses and shield your body against cold and flu. So next time you want to have a cuppa tea, opt for these recipes and add a healthy twist to your everyday chai.

Tulsi is called the ‘Queen of Herbs’ due to its numerous health benefits. It helps to protect our body from various infections, diseases and also lowers blood sugar level. Ginger helps to flush out toxins from the body. Its anti-inflammatory properties improve bone health, reduce blood sugar and fight infections. To prepare this delicious recipe, peel and shred the ginger and wash the tulsi leaves. Add water to a pan and let it boil. Now add shredded ginger and tulsi leaves. Add tea leaves and let it simmer till the water reduces a bit. You can add milk and sugar as per your taste if required. Strain the tea and serve.

Jaggery is loaded with iron, minerals and several essential nutrients. Jaggery tea could do wonders for digestion too. As per health experts, jaggery helps dilate blood vessels and further help us glow from within. To prepare this recipe, use a mortar and pestle and crush cardamom, black peppercorns and fennel seeds. Now take a pan and boil milk in it. Add some grated ginger, tea leaves and the prepared spices mixture. Give it a boil. Strain and add a teaspoon of jaggery powder or a small piece of jaggery. Mix well and let the jaggery melt. Serve hot for immediate consumption.

Spiced tea contains potassium, vitamin B, carotene, vitamin C and magnesium. Drinking spiced tea can help you get relief from cough, sore throat, headache, and body pain. It helps to boost your immunity to fight against infections and inflammation. To prepare this recipe, use a pestle and mortar and crush green cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick, black peppercorn and fennel seeds. Crush some ginger separately. Now, take a pan and boil water in it. Add tea leaves. Then add the crushed spices and ginger. Let it boil. Add milk and sugar. Strain and serve.

Kashmiri kahwa is rich in antioxidant properties which helps in building immunity and keeping seasonal infections at bay. Just a single cup of the Kashmiri Kahwa can improve digestion and also aid in weight loss. To try this delicious recipe, heat water in a pan. Now take some cardamoms and cinnamon and crush them. Add these along with green tea leaves in the boiling water and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes. Strain the tea and add almond and saffron strands to it. Enjoy the delicious hot drink.
